The Matchbox Toy Show Returns to Hershey at the AACA Museum
September 26, 2010
Hershey, PA (August 25, 2010) If you’re a collector or fan of Matchbox cars then we have just the event for you. The Diecast Exchange is hosting a Matchbox Collector’s show here at the Antique Automobile Club of America Museum (AACA) on Sunday, September 26 from 9AM to 4PM. The event will allow visitors to add to or begin a Matchbox collection as all cars will be for sale. Vendors will be showcasing toy cars from the entire history of Matchbox -- from the first car in the 1950’s all the way through present day vehicles. To support this event, the AACA Museum is offering $5.00 admission (half the normal admission price) to encourage visitors to attend this one-day show.
This Matchbox toy show is a top notch collector’s event where you are sure to see some rare collectibles as more than 40 of the best Matchbox dealers from the East Coast will be on hand with a half a million dollars worth of cars for visitors and enthusiasts to enjoy. Among the cars for sale will be a special limited edition truck with camper specifically decorated for this show and limited to 150 pieces. Visitors will have the opportunity to admire the amazing detail put into these miniature cars which are approximately 1:64 scale models of full size cars. For those extremely eager collectors, an early admission plan to visit the vendor booths will be available from 6AM to 9AM for $20 per person. Special room rates are also available at the Spring Hill Suites adjacent to the AACA Museum by calling 717-583-2222 and asking for the Matchbox Show rate.
First time visitors and returning guests will be one of the first to see the Museum’s newest exhibits – Ash and Maple Marvels: Wood Bodied Cars 1914-1953. This display boasts 25 vehicles that cover the entire history of wood being used as a structural element in vehicles as opposed to steel. This exhibit also has some celebrity association with a 1940 Buick Super Estate Wagon once owned by actress Bette Davis. This exhibit will open on September 24th and run through January 31, 2011.
Want to take a piece of the collection home? A 1940s Ford “Woodie” model is the fist in a series of limited editions representing vehicles from the AACA Museum collection in 1:43 scale. With the purchase of this model, you are contributing directly to the car’s restoration.
